About the Chicago Chapter

The 82nd Airborne Division Association was first organized in England in 1944 by paratroopers and glider men of the 82nd Airborne Division as they prepared for the invasion of Normandy, France – famously known as “D-Day”. Upon returning to the United States, the organization grew and established chapters, the first being the Chicago Chapter in 1948. Then, in 1990, the 82nd Airborne Division was honored with a Charter by the United States Congress.

Today, the Association includes more than 100 veteran chapters and over 13,000 members. The Chicago Chapter and its more than 180 Airborne veterans continue to serve the greater Chicagoland area. Our mission includes a wide array of service and social activities to aid our membership, stimulate awareness of the organization, and advance the ideals of the Airborne community.
